About the blog
Agadatantra or Damstra Chikitsa or Visha Chikitsa is one of the eight branches of Ayurveda dealing with the identification of source of envenomation by observing the features and management of different combinations of toxins or poisons. Vyanjana is the word used in the definition of Agadatantra told by the sage Susruta. It underlines the knowledge of characteristics of various bites or stings prior to the act of treatment. The features are to be thoroughly studied and understood to implement prompt treatment with specificity. Thus the comprehension of symptoms with degree of severity forms the backbone of Agadatantra. The expenditure on literature is more for diagnostics than treatment which establishes the definition of this science. The ancient sages and late medieval physicians of visha chikitsa could make out the pathway of spread of toxins by applying dhatu dushti principles. Scientific unbiased exploration into special treatment methods is worth trying to experience the rationale behind their advocation. Current day is witnessing the birth of new diseases with overlapping symptoms. Unpredictability and progression are common to both venomous bite and new age diseases. Why cant a blog bring the modalities of Agadatantra to reality through its contribution to manage challenging diseases of modern era.
